    Windows 2000 Setup!

    Locked

    by wsouza ·

I have installed Windows 2000 on a clients computer. The problem that I’m encountering is that the hard drive indicator light remains on! I’m not able to come up with any solution yet! Has any seen this problem?

Verify that the hard drive is on Microsofts HCL

It could be that it is accessing virtual memory constantly. Be aware that Windows 2000 uses much more ram than win98 for the operating system. If your client is marginal in the amount of memory he has I would suggest an upgrade.

I should add that I had at one time put Windows 2000 on my laptop that only has 32mb of ram and I noticed that the hard drive was running constantly. If your client only has 32mb of ram, then there is a good chance that is what the cause of the constant read is.
