I have many years in the IT field working with Windows servers from 3.51 to 2003. I would simply like to verify from a consulting standpoint, that if a Windows 2000 Standard server were to crash (has not happened yet), can I recover (if the Directory Services Restore Method does not work, using a Windows 2000 Enterprise Server CD or does it have to be a Windows 2000 Standard CD)? I am asking because a client lost their W2K standard CD, but also has a 2K server running Enterprise. I wasn’t sure if using the Enterprise server would corrupt the Standard server. I would think it would be harmless because most of the files are the same. I am suggesting to my client to get another Standard server CD just in case. If anyone can clarify, I would appreciate. Thanks much.
