Windows 2000 System Volume

I have copies of windows 98, 200 & Xp, which I use for different purposes. I use bootmagic to switch between windows 98 & the 2 NT based systems, but I have found it simpler to boot to a primary partition, & have that refer to the windows 2000 or XPsystems using the boot.ini. However I do not want to use an existing system to do this because when I do a clean install periodically (which I invariably do) I have to set it all up again. Is there a way I can manually create a system volume to leave as primary, while booting to boot partitions in my extended partition, only I have as yet failed to isolate the files needed by a boot partition
