Windows 2000 Terminal Service Licensing

By debbiehu ·
How can I remove a permanent terminal services license on a Windows 2000 server? On my server there are licenses for machines that are no longer in use and I would like to be able to assign those licenses to a different machine.

You will have to call up the MS Licensing Clearinghouse for a new license number. You should also download the patch that releases the licenses after 90 days of inactivity.

The number is available in one of the screens that you go through to addnew licenses to your pool.

You may have already looked into this, but SP3 is "supposed" to address this issue. I haven't tried it, so am I not sure if it will work, but it's worth a shot.
