Windows 2000 won’t bootup…

by d_sandiford . Updated 23 years, 1 month ago

I am trying to resolve a Windows 2000 workstation problem at work. The system in question starts up ok, runs through its BIOS check, but then it gets to this windows screen and stops:

Windows is Starting…
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

(This is the startup screen, black background,white lettering…)

The bar fills across as normal, and then…it stops\hangs.

I have tried booting into the different safe-modes
to see if I could just get access but nothing has worked so far.I have replaced the motherboard, memory and other devices, checked and\or disconnected other hardware to see if this will help resolve this problem but to no avail. I am at a loss as to what to try next. If you have any ideas, please let me know in detail as well as any other forthoughts as to what to try next if
attempts don’t work, thanks.

ps.,
Formatting and reinstalling are a last option….
