Hello….I have a problem at work where I run a mail server (Mail Enable v 1.9.81) on a windows 2003 server R2 platform.
The problem is when starting up the computer my MTA can’t bind port 25 (or an alternate port if I change the e-mail port option) to my fixed IP address. Here is the message I receive :
MailEnable SMTP Service error: 10049,ME-F0087: Unable to bind to IP Address (xx.xx.xx.xx), Port (25), Error (10049). Could not start SMTP Connector. Check that another SMTP Server is not running or security software has not prevented access to the port.
At first I thought it was the exchange server that gets installed by default on windows 2003 but I still get the same after I changed its port, disabled it or even removed it from windows components.
The netstat command doesn’t show any process or service using port 25; windows firewall has both the mail server’s processes and the port 25 in its exceptions list.
I can’t figure out what it could be…as I’ve said before this happens on other ports as well if I configure my server to use those.
So now to get my server to work I need to restart the SMTP connector manually every time after a computer re-start…
Any idea what it could be and possible solutions?
