Windows 2003 NTBackup

By olivierb ·
I have a problem with Windows SBS 2003 ntbackup. The backup is performed on tapes and there is enough space on them but two to three times a week, the backup is not completed successfully. The drive is clean and no real explanation in the event viewer.

Has someone already experienced that?

Thanking you in advance for your help

Welcome to NT Backup

This isn't uncommon at all and the only real solution is to use a Dedicated Backup Software Solution.

make sure the backup software is Exchange aware

Since your using SBS, you need a solution that will "play" the Exchange transaction logs, which then archives them. Without this feature, the transaction log file will continue to grow until there is 0 disc space left.

an option to try is using an external hard drive as your backup source with NT Backup in stead of tape.
