Windows 3.11

By draggon_9 ·
I'm trying to install 3.11 on an old computer. I have 8 floppies but when I try to boot it says disk error and that the floppies aren't compatable, what am I doing wrong?

try formatting the HDD in FAT16 and limit the disk size to 2GB or less.

Floppy Settings

Make sure that the disks are the correct format for your floppy drive and that you have the correct drive type set for the floppy drive in BIOS settings.

Also, what version of DOS did you install on the hard drive?

As I recall, before you could install 3.11 you had to install DOS 6 first.

If you systemed the hard drive from an older version of DOS or from a newer boot disk, it will be incompatible.

Same for newer versions of fdisk.
