Windows 7 and XP Dual Boot

by peterpac . Updated 16 years, 8 months ago

After installing Windows 7 on a new partition and rebooting I lost the ability to boot Windows XP. Instead of playing with this I just installed OpenSUSE with Grub and it found all 3 boots.

There are problems with Windows 7 which I am finding after the install but most are due to vendors not creating drivers for devices and security vendors not upgrading security programs to work with Windows 7 which leads to a Vista or XP compatibility install. I also notice a lot of people having problems because they are not upgrading their Motherboard software or BIOS.

Whether you are upgrading or doing a clean install you should remove all connected devices from your computer and after the install, install the appropriate driver updates and reconnect your devices.
