I have a pentium 233mhz running Windows 95. During the boot process, everything is fine until it gets to the Windows 95 screen. Then it just sets there for sometime until it finally finishes loading and everything is fine. My question is why doesit take so long to load Windows 95? I have a pentium 133 that loads much faster.
Thanks Gene Keys

Get a copy of MSCONFIG.EXE from a Win98 PC and copy it to the Win95 machine. Utilize that to disable all start up options. If it starts up faster, enable the startup options one at a time until you pinpoint which is causing the problem. You mighteven try disableing some of the hardware components in Device Manager then do a restart and use the same steps as above to pinpoint the problem. Brian
While looking at the Windows 95 screen, press the Esc key to see what is going on behind it. It's possible that an antivirus program is scanning the hard drive during the boot process. This will sometimes cause a significant delay in the loading ofwindows, based on how many directories/files there are to scan.
