Windows 95 TCP/IP won’t work

by blinkr . Updated 24 years, 6 months ago

Windows 95 PC that the TCP/IP got hosed & now can not get it to work after many uninstalls & reinstalls. Winipcfg displays “can not read IP configuration” & installing winsock 2 upgrade I get a message that I need to run the ws2bakup.bat to reinstall old components. After running this & trying to reinstall winsock 2 I get the same message. Everything claims that the TCP/IP isn’t configured. I have checked, rechecked, & double-rechecked the settings with those on a 2nd partition on the same PC that is working perfectly. I have even copied over some of the files (ie. wsock32.dll, winsock.dll, wsock32n.dll, etc.) with no luck there either. I have also removed all of the network components & DUN & reinstalled them as well as updated any drivers for the nic. Still no joy!!

Any other suggestions???
