Windows 95 with Novell Client Changing P

By tom.sigelko ·
We have a two system environment with Netware 4.12 as the primary and NT4 as a special applications domain. I have 3 Windows 95 machines with Netware client that also map a drive to the apps server running NT4 in the NT4 domain. When these users want to change their password for the NT4 domain it says "Cannot find a Domain Controler...". I have added a Host file with the PDC listed but in 95 you can't specify a domain in this file. Ive also added "Login to an Windows NT domain" to the client properties but again you can't specify an address for the PDC. How can I tell the Windows 95 client where to find the PDC?

We have the same environment here. The Win95 clients have both the Novell client as the primary log in and the Client for MS Networks installed. On the MS client, we only need to specify the domain that we're logging onto. The Novell client needs the tree, server and context specified. Can the Novell servers see the NT servers? Perhaps the problem lies there and not in the clients.

In the Ms Client make sure you specify the name of the PDC. Install IPX/SPX for Microsoft networks and specify a frame type in the properties. The default is 802.3. but you should use the one you are using for your current Novel network.

hi, Lizzy that is a good answer. I just add more detail for you. You need to check up all servers what protocol are the servers using. domain name for WinNT and Tree for Novell. In contro panel, network iocn of win95 have you add for client novell or Microsoft. Novell server need NWlink and NT can user Netbeui or TCI/IP.
Server NT and NOvel can use GSNW etc...
good luck.
