Windows 98 and ME workgroups

By ita_25_2002 ·
On a home network, there are 2 windows 98 PCs and 1 windows ME PC. The windows ME PC recognizes all of the networked PCs, but the windows 98 PCs only recognize themselves. What can be changed so all of the PCs recognize each other?

make sure they are all using the same protocols, like netbeui or tcp/ip.

static IP

Good call on the protocols. Also if that is all you have on the network, use a static IP address on each computer and check the subnet mask

Choos IP Class

by Rashid Siddiqui In reply to Windows 98 and ME workgro ...

first of all u must check ur protocol. if u r using tcp/ip u must choose "C" class and assign different ips on all PCs. for exmp.

u must same workgroup assign on all PCs and different netBIOS name.
on one pc 192.160.0.1 & subnet mask 255.255.255.0
on 2nd pc 192.160.0.2 & subnet mask 255.255.255.0
on 3rd pc 192.160.0.3 & subnet mask 255.255.255.0
and make sure File & Print services install on all PCs then u can access to all pcs from network nebourhood.

i hope u will get succes.
