Windows 98 Boot Process

By hratchn ·
Anyone knows the difference between the normal boot process of windows 98 and the "Shift-Restart" reboot process?I need to know what steps makes the OS in the first case that it didn't make in the 2nd.

Thank you

Hi
It is the same for the OS but Shift-Restart" reboot process will be faster since no BIOS routine for hardware check will be run.
i hope this will help you.
good luck

Shift - Restart doesnot reprocess the config.sys - autoexec.bat and doesnot rebuild the kernel. that is why it starts so fast.

Am I repeating myself?? I need two lists, in the first list I need the steps which W98 makes in a normal boot, and in the second list I need the steps which W98 makes with "Shift-Restart" boot. Thank you.
