Windows 98 gets dll errors when try usin

Why is my Powerpoint 2000 not opening. And when I try repairing it by running the SFC and restore the Windows 98 Operating System when I put the Windows 98 Second Edition CD-ROM in it goes into a blue screen and hangs.

What error messages are you getting? Rather than use SFC, have you tried using Repair Office? Click add remove programs on the Contrl panel and chhose to Change MS Office 2000. Next click on Repair Office. I assume you have SR1 installed.

I try using repair office already it did not work. I end up installing the OS all over again.

Try booting into safe mode i.e. hold ctrl when booting. Check the devices in control panel to be sure ther is no conflicts. remove office from there and reboot. Then reinstall office. Sounds like a software conflict.

Have you checked that the CR-DOM works OK with a different CD ? And tried cleaning the disc ? A blue screen often indicates that the drive can't read the CD for some reason.
