Trying to install NT on W98 computer. Partitioned and formatted drive /FAT/.
NT doesnt recognize new drive letters and reformats same drive. No problem. NT installs files, then instructs you to reboot and installation will continue. Problem is installation doesn't. When I reboot to continue I get can't find OS message . Help anyone?400

Sounds like you drive is not partitioned properly. Make sure you set your primary partition (bootable).

Remove your NT partition. get a partition manager like Ranish, remove NT partition, repartition your drive and make the master boot record a boot manager. then reiinstall NT.

One suggestion. Install nt first and then 98. You may have to install 98 as fat16. Nt has to be the primary and not the second os. Nt has the boot loader that will allow for multiple os's.

Like the previous answer, you will need to create a primary boot partition in FAT16. NT can't read FAT32 which is what WIN98 will try to create when you run FDISK. If you use WIN2000, it can see a FAT32 partition.

Hi!

As stated above you cannot use FAT32 since NT dosen't understand FAT32.

The NT boot partition should be 2Gb or less in order to work properly.

The NT boot partition also has to reside below cylinder 1024 of your primary HD or it won't be bootable, old BIOS restriction that also is true for all other OSes.
