So I have a 98 machine that kind of bit the dust, boot was corrupted. I stuck in the Dell Recovery CD, broght me up to 3 options, to either reinstall the CABS(i did, but didnt help). The next option was to install windows 98 without format, and the last was install and format.
Since i had files i wanted, i went with option 2, install without format. I figured this would be like a refresh. Well, it seems to have install a whole new copy of Windows, with none of my old programs installed. I can find some of my old files…pictues, ect… But cant find everything. Do i have any chance to get my old files back? Or are they pretty much gone since windows did not just refresh like XP or 2000 wouldve. It seems to have installed inself on top of itself.
