Windows 98 PC : Random Reboots

by fquattrone . Updated 25 years, 5 months ago

I am having a problem with my windows 98 PC rebooting randomly. Sometimes when I start the PC, it reboots before it gets into windows, sometime it reboots after I get into windows. It will sometimes reboot while I am working in an application. I will sometimes reboot while the PC is just sitting idle doing nothing.

My PC Specs are:
300MHZ PII with 192 MB of RAM
Voodoo 3 2000 card
CD
CD Burner
Soundblaster 64 AWE

I have tried the following things to fix it:
1. Ran a Mcaffee with thecurrent DAT file.
2. Disabled all memory resident programs.
3. Disconnected CD Burner (Problems started around the time I installed this)
4. Reinstalled Video Drivers.

The only new piece of hardware that I added is a second hardrive which is on the same controller as my primary hard drive. I thought that this may be the problem but the drive acts fine and the PC reboots even when sitting idle.
