Windows 98 SE SLOW Loading

by mra2 . Updated 24 years, 4 months ago

I have Windows 98 SE on my Athalon XP 1800. When you boot up the Windows splash screen appears for about 10 seconds. Then the screen goes black and white and you see the 2 commands in autoexec.bat executing.

Then the computer goes to sleep for about 2 minutes. When it “Wakes up” Windows 98 se loads and works well.

Another Tech Republic User told me I had a Driver problem.

I have ONLY the following drivers loading. When I delete any of these my WINPOET (DSL) connection will not connect. ANY IDEAS???? I’ve already tried reloading WinPoet and Zone Alarm. It had NO EFFECT!

Drivers:
NDIS.vxd
NDIS2SUP.vxd
VSDATA95.vxd (Belongs to Zone Alarm)

Thanks,
Alan
