Windows 98se error codes

I have a system running win98 se amd k6/2 at 450 128 mb of ram I get the following error codes(a fatal exception oe at 0167:bff9dfff,
explorer has caused a general protection fault in module user.exe at 0006:00001f22)also when on the internet netscape 4.73 keeps shutting down by itself. I have done a fresh install of windows I have changed out the ram. I can’t seem to find anything on technet any help would be greatfull

This actually sounds more like something with your Video Card. Maybe a newer driver or possibly setting the color depth to something like 256 Colors would cure this.

I’ve also seen some wierd things by having the 2X/4X acceleration set for cards that don’t support this or having the Apeture size set to big or small in the bios *usually 64 is fine for most cards).

Try running the repair option for netscape , this happens for IE , it’s likely an issue with the explorer. Also after getting a fault , run C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\SFC.EXE from the run option (this is the system file checker) and see if something caused a misplaced driver or damaged one

Thanks for the advice but I found out what it was it was a bad cpu I swapped it put and now it works fine
