Windows 98SE losing connection to server

By jratka ·
I have a Windows 98 SE PC that is periodically losing it's connection to a Windows 2000 server, the login is through Novell Netware for Windows. Sometimes it won't map to the server when the 98 PC boots up. Other times clicking on the mapped drive in explorer or My Computer returns the message "e is not accessible". It seems to drop the connection after a period of time.

What version of the Novell Client are you running? We have had similar issues with pre-3.3 clients.

Version 5, thanks but I guess the issues you had don't apply.

Another thing to check. The Windows 2000 server is configured ' by default' to 'time-out' all network connections after 15 minutes. From a command prompt, type.....

net config server /autodisconnect:-1

This will set the time-out feature for indefinite.

Hope this helps.
