By jrslyrics ·
Does anyone know of a way to force earlier versions of windows to adhere to the Wondows server 2003 domain policies?

Which policies?

If you are talking about the domain security policies such as password length and expiration date, Windows 9x should pick up on those.

If you are talking about making changes through Group Policy Objects, such as forcing a wallpaper or disallowing certain programs to run, Windows 9x can not be managed through those.

You can however use System Policy Editor (POLEDIT.EXE) and create a policy file that can lock down Windows 9x to an extent. I don't remember all the steps, though I'm sure there's a MS KB article about it. The basics are that you create the policy file with POLEDIT, make a change to the network settings in Windows 9x so that it looks for the policy file, and place the policy file in the NETLOGON share (SYSVOL\domain\scripts on Windows 2003) on a domain controller.
