Windows Activation Help

By comp1systems ·
Ok, I originally posted something like this in the
discussions area and did not realize I needed to put it here.
So I am going to put it in the form of a question. What
does it mean when after you've re-installed an operating
system on your laptop, you get an alert to activate your
version Windows. Then you click on the balloon and it says
you're already activated. Then everday following you get
the same reminder, but again told you're already activated.
Your 30 days is winding down. Is there a way to straighten
this out before the 30 days ends?

Hello...

What you describe is not normal behavior. You need to act quickly to resolve this before Windows shuts down.

I suggest you call your PC maker or Microsoft about it. You cannot use the normal "activate by phone" process because you get the Microsoft phone number during the activation process on your PC. You're not getting that far. So, you'll have to call a general support number for Microsoft and explain your situation.

Sorry...

If you have an XP CD, try a repair install of XP. It should reset and re-initiate the activation process. See link below for instructions.

All the comments I received have been quite helpful. And I thank you. I did
manage to solve the problem, however, the person the laptop belongs to is
being very unappreciative.
