I have an Acer laptop with a Realtek AC97 sound card. This appears to be installed and working properly, but when going into Sounds and Audio Devices in control panel, pretty much everything is greyed out.
Have looked through some forums and checked whether the Windows Audio Service was started (from Services)and it isn’t. I tried to start it and nothing doing. Came up with an error 998.
Please can anyone help me before I turf it out of the window!!
