Windows Bar Code Font

By Tulsa ·
With a Windows 98 2E workstation, the font is a barcode upon startup. Does anybody know how to correct this problem? The font returns to normal if I go to DOS and then back to Windows. This started after using scheduler.

Sounds like you may have tried to drag and drop a bar code font in the fonts folder. May try to remove (delete) all the bar code fonts from th epc. Usually located in c:\windows\fonts

Good luck.

You might want to right-click on the Desktop, choose Properties, then Appearance, then go through the list of items and check the default fonts (particularly for the window item).

You might also want to check the scheduler to make sure it's not calling some task that might be changing the default font - while you're at it, check the StartUp group for any suspicious programs.

The other alternatives, I suppose, would involve either re-installing Windows (kind of extreme) or doing a registryhack by finding and changing the default fonts key (if you know the name of the bar code font, you could search the registry for that string). Of course, you should not consider either of these last two options unless you have good, verified backups of any useful data on the computer.

regards!
