Windows Caching-DNS

I just took over as and OU administrator in a large, nationwide AD domain.

Since we cannot post directly t the enterprise DNS, the previous administrator created a large host file that is replicated daily to all users....yuk.

I want to standup a caching-dns that forwards to the enterprise DNS. In Bind we could add local records we didn't wish to advertise outside the local network. That is not available in Windows DNS.

What is the best way to make local records available without posting to the enterprise?

Have you considered setting up forwarders on the local DNS, to forward external requests to the Enterprise DNS on the 'Forwarders' tab?

I have done that. I have some local servers I don't want advertised to the enterprise. In bind you could add entries locally to the caching-DNS.
