On Tue. 8/14/07, my Windows XP automatically updated itself when I shut it dow for the night. The next morning, everything that I tried resulted in the message: “Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file…” Using System Restore, I backed out the change. Since that time, I have had the update applied 2 more times, with the same result. I have turned off updates. The system runs fine, as long as I don’t let this update occur.
