Windows Cannot read 27gig drive?

By banditx ·
I am running 2 Physical drives
#1 is 8gig #2 is 27 gig
#1 is partitioned 6gig/2gig (Drive c / e)
Win2k is on e: win98 is on c: win2k can see and read c: and see's d: (the 27gig drive) but think's it's a 7.84gig drive and every tim i try to accessit it tells me that it needs to be formatted,. if i try to format the drive win2k tells me the drive is defective,. in win98 the drive shows up and works perfectly,. (not after i attempt to format it in win2k)
All I want is to be able to read the drive in both win98 and win2k I have tried Installing win2k in both ntfs AND Fat32
It is currently in fat32 And I Perfer it that way,. any help would be great thanks in advance

Windows Cannot read 27gig drive?

You probably fdisk and formatted the 27GB drive with the DOS command. The 7.8GB that you see is a limitation of CONVERT.EXE, I believe. What you should do is to use the Disk Manager tool under Win2K, **** away the partition, and create the partition in order to format from there for the 2nd drive using FAT32. That should allow you to share the drive between the two OS's.

Windows Cannot read 27gig drive?

I agree with the answer already given and just wanted to add that MS put things in different places with W2K, so the Disk Management tool is accessed from Control Panel-Administrative Tools-Computer Management and then expand the list until you findStorage and [finally] the Disk Management folder.

best wishes!
