Windows can't unzip file

By rprzybylow ·
I zipped a filed that was 9.8Gb to 4 Gigs.

I was backing up a customers pics and some other personal information they wanted to keep on to n external HDD. I had to zip it because It was a 9GB HDD.

After Upgrade to win 7 from xp, ( Fresh install) I didn't mean upgrade.

I get a message stating that it cannot unzip a file that is empty. In the properties tab it shows 4.0 GB on the zipped file, please help I don't have the heart to tell them that they lost family photo's.

With what did you zip the file?

WinZip, 7Zip, some Windows compression utility?

If a zip file, download free 7zip and try with it.

If some Windows compression utility, try transferring it to a larger external drive plugged to the same version of Windows with which you zipped it.

That's what gets to me, in spite of all the rest.

In spite, even, of the hyphen.
