Windows Delay Write failure

by ryoung . Updated 18 years, 7 months ago

Hi All,

We have a Windows 2003 R2 Server being used as a file server. Some users have been getting a Windows delayed write failure error when trying to save to network shares on this server. You can save the document locally but when trying to copy the document to the network share you then receive “Path to deep” or “Disk is full too many files are open” errors.

I have run SMART drive checks on the Drives – no problems there. MS KB Article 321733 discusses this problem – While I have the symptoms discussed in the Article the workstations are XP SP2 and Windows 2003 Server is R2 fully patched with SP2.

KB Article 224041 discusses Microsoft Office 2000 as possible cause, have upgraded those clients to Office 2003, still the same.

Has anyone else come across this issue, there isn’t a whole lot of Information about this problem dealing with XP SP2 and Windows Server2003 with SP2 as it was supposedly fixed in SP2 release.

Any info suggestions welcome.
Thanks
