In Windows XP, version 5.1 Build 2600XPSP_sp2_gdr.070227-2254, sometimes, after a reboot, my desktop “freezes”. When I clck, or double-click, on an icon, the linked program does not open. Instead, all I get is the “Properties” dialog. The problem eventually stops after a number of reboots. I would like to figure out what is the problem and resolve it once and for all.
