Windows Explorer constantly refreshing..

By wkanazawa ·
Maybe someone can help me with this one. I have a computer that when windows explorer is up and running, it is constantly refreshing. This computer is on a network and has many mapped network drives. This is the only computer on the network that has this problem. Any suggestions?

What do you mean that it is constantly refreshing? Do you mean the computer browser is unusuable?

Or do you mean Internet Explorer is constantly attempting to make a connection?

Have you scanned for viri, worms and malware?

By constantly refreshing I mean that the browser continually updates itself while you are working in it. The user move a lot of files between network drives during the day. The browser however appears to be having fits by constantly refresshing itself. I have already scanned the computer for malware and spyware. No dice on that either as that was my first guess.

XP constantly refreshing...

Did you ever find a resolution to this problem becasue I have a machine doing teh exact same thing. However, I noticed that it only did this if I was happened to be browsing to a network location within windows explorer. If I am browsing a local drive it is fine. I also discovered that if I mapped a drive letter to the network location I wanted to browse instead of traversing through the network to get to it, the constant refreshing stopped...

Let me know!

in the folder your trying to open click "View" then " Customize This Folder" then choose the "General" tab and then "Advance" click the switch "For Fast searching, allow Index Service to index the folder" option.
