Since a recent automatic update, I’m getting nothing but problems with my XP installation.
I’ve done a system restore to no avail. I’ve run chkdsc, and defragged over and over, to no avail. Same with the Virus scan.
When trying to repair my Norton Internet Security I get the message ‘Windows Installer Service could not be accessed……’. I’ve downloaded and installed the latest Installer from Microsoft, to no avail!!
When trying to open MSCONFIG.exe I get ‘An Access Denied Error was returned while attempting to change a service. You may need to log on using an Administrator account to make the specified changes’. I AM AN ADMINISTRATOR. I’ve logged on as Administrator and still get the same messages! HELP!!!!
