When the start-up comes to the desk top screen, it keeps prompts up with something like this: Windows Installer: Please wait while windows configures miscrosoft office xp standard and then gives the error message: 1706 set up can't find teh required files. Check your connection to the network or CD-ROM drive for other potential solutions to the problem, see c:\program\microsoft office\office10\1033/setup.hlp So I tried to close this and then prompts me with another error: 1719. The windows installer service couldn't be assessed. This can occur if you are running windows in safe mode, or if the windows installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance.
What are these problems and how could I fix them? Many thanks in advance for your help and solutions to this.

I think this may happen because the installation of OffXP was made from a different profile and thinks it needs to be redone for every subsequent user. You could comply with the installer's requests and put the cdrom in the drive (but that will only help if there are no new users logging on, in which case you'll have to keep doing it) OR remove the installation and redo it from scratch, this time paying attention to make it common to all users. Had this kind of situation once or twice with Off2K. Alternatively, an element of the installation may really be missing...
I have encountered the same problem. It was easily resolved by inserting the installation CD. If the install files are on a network of course you can browse to the location of the install files. Once you have done this the problem should be resolved.
What OS are you using? I have recently had basically the same problem. My problem was that all of the users besides me were having the error 1706. I figured out that the only one that wasn't having the problem was the Administrator accounts. Try making the account that is having the problem a computer administrator, login as that user and you should be able to put in what cd is asks for and continue with install. After instillation is complete, login as the administrator and change the user back to whatever type of user that you had them set at.
Again, this is how I fixed our "Error 1706" and may not work for yours, but is worth a try.
