Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI)

By constantmotion2 ·
Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) is not a service listed in the list of services in WinXP SP2. I cannot configure the firewall or access System Restore without this service. How do I reinstall this service?

Are you saying WMI is not listed is that in the running services in Task Manager? Try the following.

Click on START select RUN. Type CMD when the command prompt opens type the following command and hit enter.

net start winmgmt

The command line above is the way to go. Also, just in case there is an issue, click on Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services. Scroll down to Windows Management Instrumentation and see if the service is set to automatic and is started. If not, click on the service and in the dialog window you can set appropriate fields. Hope we helped.
