    i would like to know if there is a system file check in windows me as like in windows 98 1 st and 2nd release. if so do you get it to work.

      The Windows ME System File Protection feature replaces the System File Checker that came with Windows 98. It is supposed to automatically replace a protected file with a clean copy extracted from the system cab files on your hard disk. In the \WINDOWS\SYSTEM\sfp folder open sfplog.txt to see what actions System File Protection has taken. To see what files are protected navigate to \WINDOWS\SYSTEM\sfp and open sfpdb.sfp with notepad. Sorry about the bad news, I too found System File Check as a worthy tool. Jerry

      yes, it is supposed to be automatic and less user intervention. Once a file is deleted, the so replaces it with a fresh copy from your original cabs file.
