Windows ME

I have an interesting problem, on a Dell dimension 4100. When double clicking on the c:\ drive there is nothing showing, no folders just a blank area. I tried different settings under view and veiw my desktop as a web page. I used Roxio to back up the computer and it saw every thing on c. I am running scandisk, cleanup and defrag.
