Windows ME as ICS Client

By Zabeth ·
Will ICS work with Win98SE as host and WinME as client? I have set up this configuration but the client will not install on the ME box because it cannot see the network adapter,(which is reported as working ok by Windows). The host can browse the clients shared files, but not vice versa.

Windows ME as ICS Client

Yes, you can use ME as an ICS client. Since the "client disk" cannot find the nic, you will have to add your information manually.

Open your network setting (tcp/ip) and enter the ip address you wish your ME machine to have (should be in the range of 192.168.0.2-254). Enter the 98SE machine's ip as your gateway, and add a primary and secondary dns server to the dns list (you can find the dns servers by opening winipcfg.exe on the 98SE machine). Click ok and reboot.

Happy surfing

I hope this gets posted because the answer I received from LAZER was right on and I closed the question without accepting the answer properly. Sorry. I did not reject you intentionally! Your information enabled me to get the network up and running. Thanks.
