Windows ME Blue Screen

I had a problem with a Windows ME machine, while downloading music on this machine it shut down, upon rebooting I had the blue screen. I don’t have the ERD, tried to startup in safe mode still had the blue screen (with pointer), tried step by step and when it came to msmouse.vxd it started over then the blue screen. Is it possible that the next driver was the culprit? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
