Windows Me control pannel

By francis.kiley ·
In the communications panel when I check the dial up networking check box it does not show any memory used.
I am having trouble installing a progran called PAL.
It is a dial up for our co.I get an error message that says no dial up network installed.
I can install AOL 6 and it works ok.
But there is still no memory used in dial up.Just then check box checked.

Sounds like you are not getting into the network. Go to control panel --> Network --> TCP/IP Dial-Up Adapter --> Properties. Click on the WINS Resolution tab and make sure that your tcp/ip dial-up adapter is set to Use DHCP for WINS Resolution. On the IP Address tab, verify that you are set to Obtain Automatically. Save and let the computer reboot.... That should at least get you online. From there, you'll need to work with PAL setup and verify that you have the correct host, login and password.

AOL works because they do not rely upon windows for telephony. AOL has developed their own TAPI access to your modem.
Apparantly PAL does require correctly installed TAPI and modem

Question...Do you have any other of Windows Communications components installed?

I would first verify that your modem is correctly installed for windowsME...Check with the manufacturer for the latest and greatest WinME device drivers for your modem.
Remove the modem and re-install using the known latest WinMEdrivers.

There may be communications components that must be installed before installing tapi...
Try installing "ALL" communications components first, and remove components you no longer need.

I hope this helps...
