I am encountering more problems with that Windows ME system I already asked a question about.
After startup, the following message is apt to show up:
“Explorer has caused an error in
Explorer will now close”
or
“Explorer has caused an error in KERNEL32.DLL
Explorer will now close.
This second message occurs when I try to access the control panel. It does not seem to affect anything else.
I have tried to extract and replace both the Explorer.exeand the Kernel32.dll files form CABS on the hard disk, but the problem still occurs.
I have re-installed Windows ME from the HDD CABS files – same result.
The system is an HP pavillion 900Mhz computer with 128 MB RAM, ADSL Internet connection. There is ample room on the hard drive.
Another problem is installing some of the Windows Updates, specifically the Internet Explorer 6 Service pack 1. all other updates seem to work.
The System Restore function is currently disabled.
Any suggestion?
thanks
