Windows ME system crash

by BobHo In reply to Windows ME system crash

I can't tell f rom your post if you can boot to your hard drive or not. The problem is probably one of 2 things from what I can tell at this point. Either your hard drive has gone south and is not recognized any more or your laptop thinks that a disk is in your a: drive when there isn't.

If you can get to your bios, check and see if a hard drive is recognized. If so, check the boot sequence to see the order of drives for booting up. If c: is recognized, try setting it first in the boot orderand bypass the a: drive for now. If c: is not recognized your hard drive might be gone. If you can't get your bios to auto-detect it I'd start looking for a new one.

If booting to your cd-rom is an option you might want to try that with your ME system cd and see what happens.

Good luck,
