Windows Media Center

By mmm235 ·
Although Windows Media Center, as built into the Windows operating system, doesn't record and playback in HD (at least I haven't configured it to yet), I've been using it to record and watch TV for years. I use 2 TV tuners in Windows 7 X64 and run a DVI to HDMI cable from my video card to my 60" HDTV, a second DVI cable connects to my PC monitor (clone mode).

I use a bat file to convert every TV show and movie I record from .wtv to dvr-ms then I run "Lifextender" and remove the commercials. I haven't watched a commercial in years.

With 6 TB of hard drive space, which is excessive I know, I have over 350 movies and 870 tv shows saved and ready to watch when I decide to watch them. After I watch a TV show or Movie I delete it because everything is so easy to record.

In my opinion Windows Media Center is the best DVR option available anywhere. It's easy to configure, easy to use and very intuitive.

If anyone's found a better way or has anything helpful to add, please let me know.
