How to Uninstall Windows Media Player 11

by Peconet Tietokoneet In reply to Windows Media Player

Example A:

1. Open the Add / remove program option from Control Panel.

2. In the top section of the Add / Remove program section you will see a small check box saying "Show updates", click on that.

3. Once you have clicked on that scroll down till you see Windows XP ? Software Updates.

4. Under that remove anything that is related to the Windows media player 11 and you will have successfully uninstalled Windows Media Player 11.

Example B:
To remove Internet Explorer and Windows Media Player from Windows 7:

1. Open up Control Panel.

2. Select the Programs and Features option when you change it to the Icons mode.

3. Then select the Turn Windows Features On or Off.
Simple task of unchecking what you would like to remove, and checking off what you would like to add.
Removing Windows Media Player is as simple as opening the drop down of Media Features and unchecking Windows Media Player. IE8 can also be unchecked as well.

How to uninstall Windows Media Player 11 in Windows XP:

* Click Start > Control Panel
* Click "Add or Remove Programs" under the category view
* Click Remove a program (selected by default) and then at the top of the screen, locate and check the "Show Updates" box. This displays the software updates for the programs currently installed on your computer.
* In the Windows Updates section, click Windows Media Player 11, and then click Change/Remove. This is a larger file and may take several minutes to complete.
* If prompted, restart your computer, and then log on as an administrator or a member of the Administrators group.
* Go back the Control Panel, click Add or Remove Programs, and then click Remove a program.
* check the "Show Updates" box again and find Windows Media Format 11 runtime in the Windows Updates section
* click Windows Media Format 11 Runtime, and then click Change/Remove.
* If prompted, restart your computer, and then log on as an administrator or a member of the Administrators group.
* Go back the Control Panel, click Add or Remove Programs, and then click Remove a program.
* Click Microsoft User-Mode Driver Frameworks Feature Pack 1.0, and then click Change/Remove.
* Follow the instructions that appear in the Software Update Removal Wizard.
If the Wudf01000 confirmation dialog box appears, click Yes to continue.
* When the software removal process is complete (it might take several minutes to complete), click Finish.

Thanks but sorry

by vjsh In reply to How to Uninstall Windows ...

I thik your examples are applied to Xp n Win 7. Both are ok.

But how in vista.
My observation in VIsta:
1, WMP is listed in Control Panel>Programs and Features.
2, WMP is not listed in Control Panel>Programs and Features>Turn windows features on or off.
3, As u mentioned there is no windows update related to WMP11.

Now I came to know how WMP can be disbled. But want to Know how to remove it from Vista ?

Thanks
