Windows Messenger

I am recieving tons of pop ups thru Window Messenger. I have a cable modem. I can be in the middle of a PC game and the pop up will freeze my game and even making the game shut down at times. HOW do I remove Windows Messenger from my Computer? It does not show up on the ADD/REMOVE programs list.
