    Windows millenium with 3com 10/100

I’m trying to install a 3com pc lan card on a windows ME system, I am unable to get a valid ip address using DHCP but when I hard code the ip address and DNS I am able to browse the internet. No conflicts appear in the device manager and I slowed the speed to half duplex and 10mps but still unable to get a valid ip address. Does anyone have any ideas. this is the second card that I’ve used, and there’s nothing on Microsoft’s website nor 3com’s

Im not clear on your enviornment. Are you routing through a NT server which has DHCP installed? If so you can check that the scope pool is large enough for one more address and maybe that the lease needs to be reconciled or some leases deleted. Let me know

      Greetings,

My guess is that you’re using the wrong 3Com driver. I’ve had trouble using some drivers that come with the 3Com card.

If you’re using the 3Com 3C905b-tx (or txnm), use version 4.01 driver.

And, make sure you using DHCP and that you log into the Domain (if necessary).
