Windows network connection problem!!

by teraside . Updated 20 years, 9 months ago

I’m trying to set up a standard windows network connection between 2 pc’s.

Computer 1 has 1GbitLan interface and a pci nic.
Computer 2 has 1GbitLan interface.

If I connect one pc to Gbit Lan and the other to Gbit Lan the leds on the nic’s turn orange(close to red).
If I connect the pci nic to one Gbit Nic the leds are green. I have been able to access the network by manually configuring ip adresses 196.1.1.2 and 193.1.1.3. I would like a working Lan connection to enable lan gaming on both systems.

I get limited or no connectivity on one pc and the other stalls at acquiring a network adress if automatic ip is used.

Please help if you can
I choose create a new connection> set up a home or small office network. Then I choose computer connects directly to the internet, The other computers on my network connect through this computer.(Computer1)
The computer connects to the internet through another computer (Computer2)
I use the same workgroup for both Computers

Please help, I can only connect to my other pc if I manually configure the above ip adresses.
Some games are able to Lan and others not.
