Windows - No Disk Error

By copley6 ·
Can anyone tell me how to get rid of the "WINDOWS - NO DISK" pop up that comes up on my computer. I have read that it was caused by Adware, but have been unable to find the specific Adware that supposedly causes the problem? I am using a Toshiba Satellitte running Win XP Home Media Edition, with Tren Micro for Anti-Virus software.
Thanks All

Can you continue when it happens or does it halt your system (like if it was an error)?

And if it is a pop-up caused by malware

it doesn't really matter at this point which bit of code it is- just run a scanner like
http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php

You may have to run it several times, do so in Safe Mode, disconnected from the internet. If it cannot remove a problem, post back. The scanner will give a name for the malware.

Otherwise, yes, please tell us the nature of this message. It may be something else entirely.
