windows NT/2000 passwords

Hi all,

Im an IT consultant and a client has problems with their server admin password.

The IT manager pass away during this x-mas period and they cannt access their server with full privelages.

How do i handle this situation?
Is it recoverable and how?

They dont want to loose their vital programmmes and data

Pls help

This is not the time monkeying around with any free software to reset Admin?s password.

Buy ERD Commander 2003 from Winternals ( and reset the password.

It can be download immediately (Emergency Download).

I agree with the first answer. This is a terrible situation for the company. It really is the time where you don't want to experiment with freeware that might work, or might make matters worse.
The Winternals folk make some very good, very professional products. I have personally dealt with them, and I think they are a very good company.

One of the products it includes is Locksmith, which can reset any password. YOu will boot to the ERD CD, and go from there.

Good luck, and I hope the company will be OK. And my sympathy goes out to the family that suffered the loss.

I use ERD Commander and will tell you it is the way to go. It is Microsoft Authorized and does its job.
