Windows NT Is Stuck

By dbeucher ·
Hello,

I have a system with windows NT. I had one ide 6.4 gig hd hooked up. Trying to save problems in the future, I decided to do a mirror of the disk. I used an 8.4 gig.

When I went to reboot my cursor just sits there. I was told my boot sector is fubar'd.
I tired repairing from my emergency repair disk. It still didn't fix it I have a blinking cursor stairing me in the eye with my data intact what do I do? Please Help

You can try to boot the system using a boot disk. Create a boot disk by:

1) Copy NTDETECT.COM and NTLDR to a floppy from the installation WINDOWS NT CDROM.

2) Rename NTLDR to SETUPLDR.BIN

3) Create a text file named BOOT.INI which containsthe following:

[boot loader]
timeout=0
Default= multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\winnt

[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\winnt="Windows NT"

If this boots up your system, I would go into Disk Administrator and remove the mirror. If that does not fix it, boot up using the boot disk again and replace NTLDR on the root drive with the one on floppy or cdrom. Make sure you remove the read-only attribute on that file.
